Draft regulation was announced, proposing to extend the initial KKDIK registration deadline.

Doruksistem brings to your attention a significant development from Republic of Turkiye Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Climate Change (MoEUCC).

On 14 November 2023, a draft regulation was announced, proposing to extend the initial KKDIK registration deadline of 31 December 2023. This extension reflects the evolving needs and complexities in chemical management.

The revised deadlines are outlined as follows:

  • By 31 December 2026: This includes substances produced or imported in quantities of 1000 tons or more per year, in any form - pure, in mixtures, or in articles. Also, substances produced or imported in quantities of 100 tons or more per year, classified under Aquatic Acute 1 and Aquatic Chronic 1 categories (H400, H410), and those classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction (Categories 1A and 1B), with a threshold of 1 ton or more annually.

  • By 31 December 2028: This deadline applies to substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 100 tons or more annually, in any form.

  • By 31 December 2030: This final deadline covers substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 1 ton or more annually, in any form.

The MoEUCC is accepting feedback on this draft through a limited-time consultation process, engaging with industry associations and directly with their chemicals management department.

It’s important to note that these proposed extensions will not impact already submitted registrations. However, they will allow additional registrants more time to join Joint Submissions, possibly extending up to the end of 2030.

Doruksistem is vigilantly monitoring these developments. We are committed to keeping our clients and partners updated on the finalization of this regulatory update and its implications, which must be enacted into law before the end of 2023.
